Preparing for success beyond the school day
In order to sharpen their skills outside of the school day, youth participate in academic tutoring and college preparation programming. A focus on education directly aligns with the Youth Center’s mission of preparing all of our members for a successful academic career. Programs create a support network for elementary and high school students, building a foundation for lifelong learning.
Homework Help and Tutoring Programs
Members have access to one-on-one and small group tutoring Monday through Thursday through the Study Buddies and EXCEL programs.
High School Transition
Research suggests that a student’s 9th grade performance is a major indicator of his or her likelihood to graduate from high school and to go on to college. The Leaps and Bounds program is tailored to the specific needs of students preparing to enter high school and supporting their transition throughout freshman year.
Academic/Life Skills Coaching
The Youth Center coaching team offers steadfast support for everything from math homework assistance to guidance for students facing everyday challenges. Coaches provide mentoring and draw upon years of youth development experience.
