February is Black History Month

GCYC proudly presents: The Black Film Series

Wednesdays 7:00PM - 9:30PM February 1, 8, 15, 22, & 29

Admission and refreshments are FREE! Join us as we embark on a month-long exploration of the Black experience through the powerful medium of film.

SPECIAL COLLECTORS’ BUTTONS will be given to the first 15 guests to arrive on each movie night. Collect them all and win a prize during our final movie night, where we’ll have a special guest from the cast of The Interrupters join us for Q&A after the film.

February 1: Good Hair

Chris Rock explores the wonders of African American hairstyles.

February 8: Boycott

Black Americans boycott the public buses during the 1950s Civil Rights Movement.

February 15: The Black Power Mixtape

Footage shot during the Black Power Movement is edited together in this contemporary film with narration by many legendary and modern Black icons.

February 22: The Hip Hop Project

New York City teenagers transform their life stories into works of art.

February 29: The Interrupters

This film documents a year in the life of a city grappling with violence.”Cobe”, one of the cast members and a real-life "Interrupter", will join us for a discussion after the film.
