About GCYC
The Gary Comer Youth Center offers positive extracurricular alternatives in a welcoming and safe environment. Our mission is to provide the support for all of our students to graduate from high school, prepared to pursue college and careers. The Youth Center draws its primary membership from youth on Chicago's South side. In addition, the Youth Center offers numerous special events and activities open to the broader public throughout the year. Click on Membership for more information.
History
The story of the Youth Center cannot be told without telling the stories of two men who are most responsible for its creation—Gary Comer and Arthur Robertson. More
This sculpture of a hand with an outstretched finger was inspired by the statue of Emperor Constantine the Great of Rome. For the Youth Center, it symbolizes number one in academic achievement.

Architecture
The award-winning Gary Comer Youth Center was designed by John Ronan Architect to specifically support the activities of The South Shore Drill Team and programs for children of the neighboring Paul Revere School. More
